Categories sort your products into a hierarchy, and category is one of the filters on the product list.
Go to Catalog > Categories. Every category appears indented under its parent, with the number of products in it.
Add a category
Section titled “Add a category”- Select Add category.
- Enter a Category name.
- Pick a Parent category, or leave it on None (top-level category).
- Select Add category again to save.
Categories nest three levels deep. A top-level category can hold children and those children can hold children of their own, but no further.
Choose the parent when you create the category. Editing a category only changes its name, so a category cannot be moved later. Create it again in the right place instead.
Put a product in a category
Section titled “Put a product in a category”Open the product, choose from the Category dropdown in the Classification section, and save. A product sits in one category at a time.
The system category
Section titled “The system category”One category is marked System. It holds products that have no category of their own, and you cannot rename or delete it.
Delete a category
Section titled “Delete a category”Select the delete icon on its row. Its products are not deleted: they move to the system category, and the confirmation tells you how many will move before you commit to it.
What next
Section titled “What next”- Set a product’s category: Create a product
- Filter the catalog by category: Products overview
