Olet Privacy Policy
Effective September 1, 2026Last updated October 7, 2026
At a glance
- We collect your business and account details, how you use the Service, and technical data from your devices.
- We never see full payment card numbers. Subscriptions are billed by a Merchant of Record; your customers' card payments go straight to the payment processor you connect.
- Your customers' and staff's information belongs to your business. We only process it to run your point of sale, and we never use it for advertising or sell it.
- Our public website and our public signup pages use Google and Meta advertising and analytics tools. Signed-in merchant portal and app screens do not. You can opt out with the "Your Privacy Choices" link in this website's footer, and that choice carries to the signup page when you go there from here. We honor Global Privacy Control everywhere.
- Questions or requests: privacy@getolet.com. If you shopped at or work for a business that uses Olet, contact that business directly.
Olet Ventures LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company ("Olet," "we," "us"), provides point-of-sale software for retail businesses in the United States. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information when you visit getolet.com, use our platform, merchant portal, and mobile apps (together, the "Service"), or communicate with us.
1. Our Role
For website visitors, prospects, merchants, and merchant administrators, Olet decides how personal information is used (we are the "business" or "controller"). Sections 2 through 6 and 8 through 11 describe what we collect and your rights with us.
For end-consumers (a merchant's customers) and merchant staff, the merchant decides what information is entered into the Service and why. Olet is the merchant's "service provider" or "processor," acting only on its instructions under our Data Processing Addendum. Section 7 explains how this works and how to exercise your rights.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information you provide
- Account and business information: your name, business name, business address, phone number, email address, login credentials, and the details you enter to configure stores, locations, registers, and staff.
- Subscription and billing: your plan, subscription history, invoices, and payment status. Paid subscriptions are sold by our merchant of record, Paddle.com Market Ltd ("Paddle"), which collects payment details directly under its own privacy policy. We receive confirmation of the transaction and limited details such as card brand and last four digits, never your full card number, expiration date, or security code.
- Communications: messages you send us by email, chat, support ticket, or contact form, and your marketing preferences.
- Content you put in the Service: catalogs, inventory, sales records, gift card balances, reports, and any personal information about end-consumers or staff you enter. We process this on your behalf (Section 7).
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Device and usage information: IP address, device type and identifiers, operating system and app version, browser type, pages and features used, timestamps, referring URLs, connected peripheral diagnostics, and error and crash logs.
- Crash and error reports: when our mobile apps or merchant portal crash or hit an error, a report is sent to Sentry, a third-party error-monitoring provider. Each report is linked to the store, register, and staff identifiers in use at the time so we can trace and fix the problem. Reports are used only for diagnosis and are not used for advertising.
- Cookies and similar technologies on our website: seeSection 5. These include analytics and advertising identifiers created by Google and Meta (for example a Google Analytics client and session identifier, a Google Ads click identifier, and Meta browser and click identifiers). When you start a signup we store the identifiers present at that moment alongside your signup record, so we can tell which campaign produced it.
- Location: our mobile app requests precise device location only because the card reader providers we support (Square, Stripe, and PayPal Zettle) require it to process in-person card payments. That information goes to your payment processor under its privacy policy; Olet does not use or retain it. You can decline the permission, but card processing through those providers may not work.
- Bluetooth: our mobile app requests Bluetooth access to connect the hardware you pair with a register: card readers, barcode scanners, and receipt printers. We use it only to communicate with that hardware.
2.3 Information from third parties
- From Paddle, our merchant of record: whether a subscription payment succeeded or failed, and invoice details.
- From payment processors and integrations you connect (Square, PayPal, Helcim, Shopify, Lightspeed, and others): transaction confirmations, order and inventory data, and account identifiers needed to operate the connection. You authorize each connection, and the provider's privacy policy governs what it does with your information.
- From advertising and analytics partners: measurement information about our ads and website (Section 5).
2.4 Payment card information
Olet does not collect, transmit, or store full payment card numbers, PINs, or security codes for subscription payments or your customers' purchases. In-store card data passes directly between your hardware or the processor's software and the processor you selected. Olet stores only transaction confirmation details: transaction identifier, authorization status, amount, timestamp, card brand, and last four digits.
3. How We Use Information
- Provide, operate, secure, and support the Service, including administering your account and subscription.
- Send service communications: account notices, security alerts, billing and renewal reminders, and changes to our terms or this Policy.
- Send marketing about Olet products where you have opted in or where otherwise permitted by law; you can opt out at any time (Section 7).
- Respond to your questions and provide support.
- Understand usage, diagnose problems, and improve and develop our products.
- Advertise Olet to prospective merchants and measure our advertising (Section 5).
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents; enforce our Terms of Service.
- Comply with legal obligations and protect our rights and the rights of others.
We may create de-identified or aggregated data (for example, usage statistics or benchmarks) and use it for any purpose. We commit to keep such data de-identified, not to attempt to re-identify it, and to require the same of anyone we share it with.
4. How We Disclose Information
- Service providers that process information for us: cloud hosting and databases, sign-in and account authentication (Clerk), email and SMS delivery, error and crash monitoring (Sentry), customer support and chat tools, and our internal CRM. They are contractually limited to using the information to provide services to us. The vendors that process merchant data on our behalf are listed at getolet.com/legal/sub-processor.
- Paddle, our merchant of record, which is an independent controller of the information it collects at checkout.
- Payment processors and integration partners you choose to connect, as needed to operate the connection.
- Advertising and analytics partners, specifically Google (Analytics and Ads) and Meta, which receive information about your visit to our website and our public signup pages so we can measure our marketing and show ads for Olet elsewhere. They receive it two ways: through cookies and pixels in your browser, and directly from our servers when you complete a signup or book a demo. The server-side messages include the advertising identifiers above and an irreversibly hashed copy of your email address and phone number, which the partner uses to match the conversion to an ad it already showed. We never send them your address in readable form. This is a "sale" or "sharing" under some state laws;Section 5 explains how to opt out, and opting out stops the server-side messages as well as the cookies.
- Professional advisors (lawyers, accountants, insurers) under confidentiality obligations.
- Legal and safety recipients when we believe disclosure is required by law or legal process, or necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Olet, our merchants, or others.
- A buyer or successor in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of our business, who must honor this Policy.
We never disclose end-consumer or staff data to advertising partners, sell it, or share it for advertising.
5. Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising
On our public website and our public signup pages we use: essential cookies (required to run the site and keep you logged in); Google Analytics (how visitors use the site); Google Ads and Meta Pixel (to measure our ad campaigns and show ads for Olet to people who visited our site, which those partners may combine with other data they hold); and a chat widget cookie. Because these tools also measure our advertising, Google may use them to build audiences for showing Olet ads to past visitors.
"Public signup pages" means the pages where you create an account, before you have one. Once you are signed in, advertising and analytics cookies are not used anywhere in the merchant portal or our mobile apps, where we use only our own analytics and error-monitoring tools.
If you decline analytics and advertising cookies, we stop using them on your browser and we stop the server-side advertising messages described inSection 4. Google may still receive a basic, cookieless signal that a page was viewed, which it uses to estimate totals; that signal carries no cookie and no identifier that we or Google can tie back to you.
Your choices:
- Cookie banner: accept or decline analytics and advertising cookies on your first visit to this website, and change your choice any time via the "Cookie Settings" link in our footer.
- Opt out of sale or sharing: use the "Your Privacy Choices" link in this website's footer. No account is needed.
- On the signup page: the signup page carries no banner of its own. If you reach it from a link on this website, the choice you made here is passed to it and applied. If you go to it directly, analytics and advertising are on by default until you say otherwise, which you can do at any time using the two links above on this website or by turning on Global Privacy Control. Either one also stops the server-side messages.
- Global Privacy Control: if your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as an opt-out of sale and sharing for that browser.
- Do Not Track: apart from GPC, we do not respond to "Do Not Track" signals because there is no common standard for them.
6. Data Retention and Security
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes in this Policy. Account and business information is kept for the life of your account and deleted within 30 days of closure (within 60 days of the missed payment date for accounts closed for non-payment), except billing, tax, and transaction records, which we keep for up to seven years as required by law. Free (Lite) plan accounts with no sales activity for 60 days may be deleted after notice. Website analytics and advertising data is kept up to 26 months; support communications up to three years; logs and diagnostics up to 90 days unless needed for a security investigation; and backups up to 30 days after deletion from active systems.
We protect personal information with safeguards including encryption in transit using TLS and at rest, access controls and authentication for our personnel, monitoring of production systems, and encrypted backups. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of your information. If a security incident affects your personal information we will notify you and any regulators as required by law; for merchants, ourData Processing Addendum sets out our incident notification commitments.
7. End-Consumer and Staff Data (Processed for Merchants)
If you are a customer of a business that uses Olet, or an employee of one, the business decides what information about you is entered into the Service. Depending on its choices this may include your name, email address, phone number, addresses, date of birth (if the merchant collects it for a loyalty program or age verification), purchase history, loyalty or store credit balances, receipt delivery details, and, for staff, login and activity records.
Olet processes this information only to provide the Service to the merchant: hosting profiles, sending receipts and messages the merchant directs, enabling returns and loyalty features, and producing the merchant's reports. We do not use it for our own marketing, sell it, or share it with advertising partners. We disclose it only to the service providers we use to run the Service, under contracts restricting their use of it, and as required by law. It is retained while the merchant maintains its account; when a merchant deletes a profile or closes its account, the data is removed from active systems immediately and from backups within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep records.
To access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your information, contact the merchant where you shopped or worked; the merchant has tools in the Service to do this. If you contact us directly, we will tell you that we act on the merchant's behalf and direct you to the merchant, or forward your request to it, as the law allows.
8. Marketing Communications and SMS
8.1 Email
We send marketing email only to people who signed up for it. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link; you can also change preferences in your account or by emailingprivacy@getolet.com. Unsubscribing does not stop service emails such as billing notices and security alerts, which we send as long as you have an account.
8.2 SMS
If you opt in to receive text messages from Olet, we will send you account notifications, security codes, and, where you separately opt in, marketing messages at the mobile number you provide. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to cancel and HELP for help, or contact us athelp@getolet.com. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of purchasing any Olet product or service. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing to subcontractors in support services, such as customer service, is permitted. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
8.3 Messages merchants send through the Service
Receipts and other messages a merchant sends its customers through the Service come from the merchant, not Olet. The merchant is responsible for obtaining your consent and honoring opt-outs. Reply STOP to any such text to stop receiving texts from that merchant.
9. Your Privacy Rights
This section applies to website visitors, prospects, merchants, and their administrators. End-consumers and merchant staff: see Section 7.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know and access the personal information we hold about you; delete it, subject to legal exceptions; correct it; receive a portable copy; opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising (Section 5); and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not offer financial incentives in exchange for personal information.
Merchants and account holders can update or export account information, manage communication preferences, and close their account in the merchant portal. Anyone can submit a request by emailingprivacy@getolet.com. We verify requests by matching the information you provide with what we hold, and for account holders may require the request to come from the account email. An authorized agent may submit a request with proof of your written authorization; we may still ask you to confirm directly.
We respond within 45 days and may extend by another 45 days with notice where reasonably necessary. If we decline a request, we will explain why, and you may appeal by replying to our decision or emailing privacy@getolet.com with "Appeal" in the subject line. We respond to appeals within 45 days (60 where the law allows). If your appeal is denied, you may contact your state attorney general.

Opt out via the "Your Privacy Choices" link or Global Privacy Control. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing (Cal. Civ. Code §1798.83).
11. Children, Location, Changes, and Contact
The Service is for businesses and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and our Terms of Service prohibit merchants from entering it into the Service; if you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
We store and process personal information in the United States using U.S.-based service providers.
We may update this Policy. We will post the revised version with a new "Last Updated" date and, for material changes, notify account holders by email or in the merchant portal at least 30 days before the change takes effect.
