Build a cart on the register by searching, scanning, or tapping quick keys, then adjust the lines before you take payment

Selling is the register app's main screen. You add products to the cart three ways, adjust the lines if you need to, then press **Pay**.

The **Sell** tab is where the app opens. If the till has not been opened yet it says **Register is closed** and offers **Open register** instead, so start there. See [Open and close a register](/resources/help/selling/open-and-close-a-register/).

## Add products to the cart

**Scan them.** With a barcode scanner connected, scanning adds the product to the cart straight away. You do not have to tap into a field first. Scan the next item as soon as the beep lands: scans are queued in order, so a fast run never drops one. To use the device camera instead, select the scan button beside the search field.

**Search for them.** The search field at the top takes a product name or a code. The switcher beside it picks which: **Name** searches names, **SKU** searches SKUs and barcodes. Type at least two characters and select the product from the results.

**Tap a quick key.** The grid of product tiles is your register's quick-key layout, built from the products you sell most. Folders group them. See [Quick keys](/resources/help/selling/quick-keys/).

If the product you scanned or picked comes in several variants, OLET asks which one before it adds the line.

## Work with the cart lines

Each line shows the product, the quantity, and what the line comes to. Tap a line to open it, which is where you change things:

- **Qty**, how many. Type the number rather than tapping a button repeatedly.
- **Price ($)**, what this one line costs, if your role allows a price override.
- **Discount (%)**, a discount on this line alone, if your role allows it.

The trash icon on the right removes the line.

Under the cart are three chips, all of which need at least one line in the cart before they do anything:

- **Discount** puts a discount on the whole order.
- **Promo code** takes a voucher or promotion code.
- **Note** attaches a note to the sale. The dialog is **Sale note** and the note stays with the sale.

The totals box under the chips carries the subtotal, any discount, tax, and the total. Tax can be removed from the sale there if your role allows it, and restored again afterwards.

## Prices come from the register's own copy

The register holds its own copy of your products and prices and totals the cart from that copy. A price you change in the back office reaches a register on its next sync, not the instant you save it.

## Park a sale and come back to it

If a customer needs to step away, open **More actions** in the top bar and select **Park sale**. OLET asks for a note (name the customer, so you can find it again) and clears the screen for the next person. Select **Retrieve sale** in the same menu to bring it back.

**Retrieve sale** lists your parked sales, each with its item count, total, who parked it and when. Select **Restore** on the one you want. A parked sale that is still holding money, such as an unfinished card payment, says so on its row and warns you not to take payment again; restoring it lets OLET check the payment before you continue.

**Void** on a row deletes a parked sale that was never completed. If it is holding a card payment nobody can confirm, OLET asks you to confirm first, naming the amount and the provider and warning that voiding does not refund a charge.

A restored sale keeps its lines, its note, and its order discount. It does not keep the customer, so attach them again. See [Add a customer to a sale](/resources/help/selling/add-a-customer-to-a-sale/).

**Discard sale** in the same menu empties the cart and drops the customer. It asks first.

## Take payment

The green bar at the bottom shows **Pay**, the number of items, and the total. Press it to go to the payment screen. See [Take payment](/resources/help/selling/take-payment/).

## If it goes wrong

- **No product found for that code.** The barcode is not on any product in your catalog. Search by name to check the product exists, and add the barcode to it in the back office.
- **Multiple products match that code.** Two products share the barcode. OLET will not guess, so search and pick manually, then fix the duplicate in the back office.
- **Scanning too fast, that one was skipped.** The scanner fired faster than the lookup could finish. Scan the skipped item again.
- **The pay bar says No connection.** The register cannot reach OLET, and a sale cannot be completed offline. Check the network. The cart stays as it is.
