# Delete a category

DELETE https://api.oletapp.com/your-store/v1/categories/{id}

Soft-deletes the category and reassigns every product in it to the system "Other Products" category, in one transaction, matching the behaviour of the admin app.

- Every reassigned product gets a new `version` and reappears in the caller's next delta-sync poll.

- `409 CONFLICT`: the category is a system category.
- `409 CONFLICT`: the category is the reserved `gift-cards` category.
- `409 CONFLICT`: the category has live subcategories.
- `404 NOT_FOUND`: the id is foreign, unknown, or already deleted.
